About HUM

Built to work with villages, not around them.

HUM — Human Upliftment Mission — exists because progress delivered in pieces rarely holds. A water pipeline with no power to pump it. A school with no clinic within reach. We work across water, energy, health and education together, alongside the people who already live there.

Our story

Why HUM exists

HUM was started by people who kept seeing the same pattern across rural India: well-meaning projects that solved one problem while leaving the neighbouring one untouched. A single village rarely needs just one thing — it needs all four, in the right order, at the right time. HUM was built to be the coordinating layer that makes that possible, working with government schemes and private partners rather than duplicating them.

Mission & vision

What we're working toward

Our Mission

To close the gap between what a village needs and what it can access — by coordinating water, energy, health and education support in one place, alongside the local people already doing the work.

Our Vision

A rural India where no village has to choose which basic need gets solved first — because the systems meant to help are actually working together.

How we measure success

Not by how many villages we've "touched," but by whether the specific gap a village told us about actually closed — and stayed closed.

Our values

What guides how we work

Community-led

Villages tell us what they need first — we don't arrive with a predetermined solution.

Transparent

What we raise and how it's spent will be published — for volunteers, government partners, and donors alike.

Partnership, not duplication

We route effort through existing government schemes and private programmes wherever they already exist.

Accountable

If something we tried doesn't work, we say so — and change course, rather than reporting it as a success.

Organisational status
